TORII

Torii ist ein Set bestehend aus einem Tisch, einer Bank und einem Hocker aus sinusförmigen Wabenplatten aus Papier. Jedes Stück beginnt als flache Teile, die sich zusammenfalten lassen, nicht unähnlich dem Origami. Das Set greift das Thema der japanischen Kultur auf, denn Papier hat dort eine lange Tradition und wird viel im Wohnbereich eingesetzt.

Form und Farbe leiten sich von den gleichnamigen Torii-Toren ab, die den Übergang vom Weltlichen zum Heiligen markieren, wobei die Farbe Rot meist mit Glück und Wohlstand assoziiert wird. Die farbigen Teile können ausgetauscht und individuell gestaltet werden. Von Unifarben bis hin zu Wellenmustern ist alles möglich.

Torii is a set consisting of a table, a bench and a stool made of sinusoidal comb plates. Every piece starts off as flat parts which fold together, not unlike origami. The set keeps with the theme of Japanese culture, as paper has a long tradition there and is utilized much in residential applications.

Its shape and color derive from the identically named Torii-gates, which mark the transition from the mundane to the sacred, whereas the color red is usually associated with fortune and prosperity. The colored parts can be exchanged and individually designed. Everything, from solid colors to wave patterns, is possible.
