simon rogalla / product designer and more

Hi, my name is Simon Rogalla. I found my passion in furniture and accessory design. Studying product and wood design under Prof Jacob Strobel at the University of Applied Arts in Schneeberg has shaped my love of wood as a raw material, but I have always remained open to other materials and love experimenting to explore new design possibilities. After a short time working in the industry, I switched to becoming an independent designer and am currently working from Schönwald, Bavaria.
I grew up being a boy scout and still am to this day. This has not only shaped my personality, but also had a decisive influence on my career as a designer. In addition to the combination of new contexts, such as fashion and furniture or architecture and play, the principles of adaptability and sustainability learnt in the Scouts play a recurring role in my designs.
My work is characterised by a narrative approach, i.e. I always want to tell a story with my designs, which becomes visible through the materials, shapes or connections used. It is important to give meaning to our everyday objects, so we cherish them and not let them vanish into our fast-paced society. Only then can we reach the goal of a sustainable future.
