Meine Faszination für Produktdesign entstand durch die Nähe des Vitra Campuses zu meiner Heimat. Dadurch kam ich mit Klassikern wie dem Belleville Chair von Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec oder dem Lounge Chair von Charles & Ray Eames schon früh in Berührung.

Was meine eigene Art des Designs angeht, liebe ich es mit Produkten Geschichten zu erzählen und ihnen damit Leben zu geben. Einem Produkt Kontext und Bedeutung zu verleihen ist gerade in der heutigen schnelllebigen Gesellschaft von enormer Wichtigkeit, um Ziele wie Nachhaltigkeit und Beständigkeit zu erreichen. Dabei arbeite ich mit großer Sorgfalt, ausgehend vom Nutzer, über Marke und Produkt, bis hin zu den kleinsten Details.

My fascination for product design arose from classics like the Belleville Chair by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec or the Lounge Chair by Charles & Ray Eames, as I saw them a lot growing up near the Vitra Campus.

In my own way of designing, I love to tell stories with products and give them life. Giving context and meaning to a product is of enormous importance, especially in today’s fast-paced society, in order to achieve goals such as sustainability and durability. I work with great care, starting from the user, brand and product, down to the small details.

Wie ich arbeite

Auch wenn häufig die besten Ideen aus einem zufälligen Gespräch oder durch einen spontanen Gedanken auf dem Weg in den Laden kommen, ist es essenziell, eine ausführliche Analyse des Nutzers, des Marktes und der Marke jedem Produkt voranzustellen. Nur wenn das Umfeld klar ist, kann auch ein Produkt gestaltet werden, das Probleme löst und nicht erzeugt.

Beim Entwurf arbeite ich über Skizze, 3D Modell und Visualisierungen. Aber auch das Modell ist mir besonders wichtig, da ich gerne Dinge anpacke und im Material arbeite. Den Austausch mit Handwerkern schätze ich sehr, da ich während meiner Ausbildung viel Zeit in der Werkstatt verbracht habe und weiß, wie wertvoll diese Arbeit für die Produktentwicklung ist. Trial und error ist manchmal genauso wichtig wie die konzeptionelle Qualität einer Idee.

How I work

Even if the best ideas often come from a random conversation or a spontaneous thought on the way to the shop, it is essential to conduct a detailed analysis of the user, the market and the brand before any product. Only when the environment is clear can a product be designed that solves problems rather than creates them.

When designing, I work with sketches, 3D models and visualisations. But the model is also particularly important to me, because I like to tackle things and work in the material. I value the exchange with craftsmen very much, as I spent a lot of time in the workshop during my training and know how valuable this work is for product development. Trial and error is sometimes just as important as the conceptual quality of an idea.
